Athletes and their AD's

Unless your name is LeBRON JAMES, or KOBE BRYANT or a high major name like that even though you are in the NBA you are not making enough money to live lavishly like you would expect all professional athletes to live. That is why alot of athletes today are signing with certain companies or getting many endorsements. That is where all the money is today. But there are some NBA players that are not the brightest of the pack, and the  Ad's they sign with really degrade them as a player and as a role model.
Lets take this Kids footlocker commercial staring Carmelo Anthony. Yes he has a big name in the NBA but this ad just degrades him so much because it looks like he is just picking on a bunch of little kids.
This commercial on the other hand is a very good commercial that doesn't hurt Kevin Durant's reputation. This is a Foot Locker and a Nike commercial. It is striving young kids to work hard for their dreams, and not to give up just because they have been told they cant make it in life. This is a very inspirational video for any viewer.
So not everything a professional athlete does hurts their reputation. Now in the case of a sex scandal or having Dog Fights and things like that, that is all on the athlete yes that will hurt their reputation but they are human beings just like we are human beings. They have to admit their wrong accept the consequences and move on to the future. Being a professional and having all that fame can get to some athletes heads, and they start acting out of character, but all people are different. Do I think it affects their games, NO but off the court does it affect their image, MOST DEFINITELY!

Everybody Need Entertainemnt

As I'm watching Larry King, sitting on my couch, eating lays barbecue potato chips, I started to think about if I was born in the 60 would I still be watching this. Nothing this man was saying would be considered creditable. Everything now-a-days is intended to make you laugh, or have something to do with sex, violence or drug to get your attention. Why can't we just be able to watch the news and be told the absolute truth? If that's the case anybody on God’s green earth could be a news reporter or a journalist. There is a whole bunch of shouting and arguing and a he said she said. As I'm watching this, all I'm thinking about is love and hip hop! There are no more Walter Cronkite's in the world today! All we have is Larry King and Bill O'Reilly and Chris Matthews and so on. I believe that if we have more trust worthy people on television then I believe we will have more trust worthy people in society. On the other hand I think that if the news was just all facts and down to earth news and not sense of humor or violence related topics then these news shows would be boring and eventually would be taken off air. Things like SEX, DRUGS, VIOLENCE, MONEY, and HUMOR are what we as people are drawn too. So journalist today are looking for the next big thing that will get people to listen to them, whether or not it’s the truth or not, as long as it’s interesting. Being the audience of news shows I personally do not want to watch want people just bore me about facts, I want to see somebody fighting, or maybe sex related topics, even if it’s not the truth. Sometimes I just want to be entertained.

Do we really need reality television ....?

Personally I am in between on the argument on weather or not reality television is influencing society today. But I am leaning toward the side that says it is. Lets look at teen mom for instance. TEEN MOM. Look at the title! A whole shows about teenagers that are mothers.  Back in the old days, teenagers where not even thinking about sex, pregnancy was not even in the question.
But these days today's society, Teenage girls are looking to get pregnant. They think they are ready, and grown enough to have children. Mainly because they are looking at these shows and seeing that theses teenagers are getting so much fame, and screen time just by having a baby as a teenagers. So the message that today's teenage girls are getting is that its cool to have a baby while they are teens. It's could make them famous. NOOOOOOO!!! That should not be the case. If they are going to have a show about teenagers getting pregnant have it be showing all the struggles and encourage young girls to wait until they have their life in order and can support themselves and another human being .

I wish my daughter would even consider having a baby while she is in her teens, I would go to jail for child abuse! Reality television maybe a good source of entertainment but people today are taking it as real life. Its not! Its just people with big heads doing stuff they don't usually do, they are doing it for the cameras and the FAME! Lets take Love and Hip Hop for example, I can bet half of the people on there have never been in a fight their whole life, but once the cameras hit them, they turn into totally different people and wants to fight everything that walks. They act this way to be able to be on the next season. We need to start treating reality television like it really is, TELEVISION! NOT REAL LIFE!

Is Bigger Always Better ?

What is a newspaper? When I think of a newspaper, all I think about is something to eat crabs on. The one time I ever read a news paper was during my high school basketball career, the Baltimore Sun wrote and article about me. Other than that I dont read newspapers. Like why go buy a newspaper when you have all these news channels and all theses news apps that you can download onto your phone? Its really a waste of paper in my opinion. I honestly believe that community newspapers like the Dundalk Eagle will be the only newspapers left in the near future. I believe this because community newspapers are not in the forms of apps, they are something that if you want to find out about whats happening in your specific community you will have to read about it. The news stations on Television don't really go into specific detail about whats going on in a community. Lets say for example a pair of students for Dundalk High School make it onto honor roll 4 years in a row during their high school career. These students would not be mentioned in a news paper such as USA today, but they would definitely be mentioned in the Dundalk Eagle. It is very impressive for a student to make honor roll every year in high school so they should be recognized for their accomplishments. That's why I think that the bigger news papers like USA today will eventually be over run by apps and the internet, and eventually stop being printed. The world is taking a huge turn toward technology and everything paper will soon be forgotten about. Like I always say... Its the little things that count! And that is exactly what the smaller news papers write about, the small things!!

Magazines... Can't Live With Them Can't Live Without Them

ARE CELEBRITIES REALLY ALL THAT?? We all see the long-haired, blue-eyed, perfect bodied women, and the muscles coming from everywhere men in today's magazines. But are they really what we think they are? Should we as today's society judge ourselves on the way these people look? If you ask me I would say HELL NO in a heart beat!

People today are so self conscious, everybody has to look better than the next person. Honestly I don't give a damn on how somebody looks, or if they look better than me. All I care about is if somebody is working harder than me, and if that's the case then ima work harder.

Most of the time, the pictures you see in magazines have you like... WHAT THE HELL IS THIS! I would love to know who actually wants to look like this guy ?
Like seriously if you want to look like him, then you should just kill yourself. Like im pretty sure this guy can't put on a suit, or even a shirt and tie for that matter. What job is he getting besides lifting weights for the rest of his life.

Sometimes magazines relate to every day people. Attached Parenting is a big dispute. Many people believe that it's up to the child on when breast feeding should be finished and other's believe that when the child is old enough to talk that breast feeding should be stopped. This cover is not trying to give off this image of a perfect women. It's intended to be a everyday mother.

On the other hand, some magazines just shouldn't be allowed to be published. Like how is this magazine cover demonstrating anything positive? Our younger generation see this and all they think of is SMOKING and SEX. How is this sending a positive message? How is this showing children right from wrong? We need to give good examples, not telling children to "BLOW UP"
